Conical geothermal probes are launched on the market under the brand names GEROtherm® FLUX and GEROtherm® VARIO. They combine the properties of improved strength and system efficiency with total recyclability.
HakaGerodur AG continues to be an owner-managed family business. Andreas Menzl and Michael Menzl acquire the shares of the Pfiffner family according to a sustainable succession plan. Michael Menzl is named Managing Director of HakaGerodur AG.
Energy management certification at Gerodur
Energy management, which has been pursued for years, is certified according to DIN EN ISO 50001 for the first time.

Introduction of the LHT product line
At the IFAT trade fair in Munich, Gerodur showcases the LHT product line for the underground routing of high-current cables and industrial applications for the first time.
Gerodur expands production and constructs logistics centre
Another expansion step in Neustadt is completed. The production area is expanded by 50% and a logistics centre with an integrated assembly line and 4,500 pallet storage spaces is entrusted to the company.

In the expanding market for geothermal probes, the first factory-welded geothermal probe is rolled out under the GEROtherm® brand name. Customers reap the benefits of increased safety and product longevity.
The GEROfit® protective jacket pipe for trenchless installation is launched on the market. This product development takes into consideration the new no-dig installation methods for pipeline construction and replacement.
The two Swiss companies Haka AG Gossau and Gerodur AG Benken are merged together to form HAKA.GERODUR AG. Gerodur Neustadt i.S. is integrated into HAKA.GERODUR AG as a subsidiary through the acquisition of the company shares. Andreas Menzl swaps his shares for shares in HAKA.GERODUR AG.
Expansion in Germany
The production area at the Gerodur site in Neustadt i.S. is doubled. In addition to civil engineering products, the first parts for the heating and sanitary product range are manufactured.
The three partners Andreas Menzl, Erwin Pfiffner and Peter Mayer found Gerodur MPM Kunststoffverarbeitung GmbH & Co. KG in DE-Neustadt i.S. Jochen Henke is named as the operational managing director.
First metal composite pipes
Haka operates its first plant for composite plastic metal pipes based on its own patented production process. The products are marketed under the brand name HAKA-POLYMET.
Staff handover
Josef Pfiffner hands over the entire management of Haka AG Gossau and Gerodur AG Benken to his son Erwin Pfiffner. The companies now have a workforce of 120 employees.
High energy prices lead to increased demand for energy-saving products. Underfloor heating pipes and products for geothermal heat recovery, such as horizontal collectors and geothermal probe pipes, are launched on the market.
Josef Pfiffner takes over Haka AG Gossau
At the age of 55, Josef Pfiffner realised his dream of independence by purchasing Haka. He takes over the shares from M. Gairing and A. Frei. Despite the ongoing economic crisis, Josef Pfiffner already envisages the “dawn” and the rewards of new materials and production processes.
Gerodur officially opens its new plant in Benken (SG)
The steady growth during the 1960s calls for the construction of a larger production plant. The move occurs in the summer of 1970 with five extruders. In the meantime, the company’s product range has been expanded to include flushing, sewage, pneumatic tube and cable protection pipes.
Haka moves to Gossau (SG)
A new industrial area in Gossau makes it possible for the company to venture out of the space shortage at its site in St. Gallen. The product range is expanded to include cable protection, antenna protection, water and gas pipes.
Simple profiles are produced using an extruder in an old barn. After the factory building was completed, other products, such as drinking water pipes made of polyethylene followed.
Celluloid sheets are used to make collar stays and door protectors. The “Haka-Sana” label for plastic-covered knitting needles is widely known throughout Switzerland. Hans Kaufmann is a pioneer in the plastics industry, having gained his experience during his long stay in America. Haka is one of the first plastics companies in Switzerland.
