High Temperature - Macallan Distillery
Macallan is one of Scotland's oldest distilleries, whose whisky is known worldwide as the "Rolls-Royce of malts". During its production, process-specific waste water must be routed from the production plant to various heat exchangers and filters. Fermenting yeast cultures and residual particles of the fruit peels used can lead to turbidity of the whisky and are regularly filtered out and removed. The resulting liquid has an average temperature of 60°, which significantly limits the choice of material for the wastewater pipe. The responsible planners decided to use a Gerodur pipe from the versatile LHT® Industry pipe system. In this way, both the advantages of a normal PE100 RC material (notched impact strength, Costa- and time-saving installation and processing) and a long service life under high temperature stress can be used.
