A sprinkler system was installed at the Volkswagen plant in Wolfsburg as part of fire protection renovation measures, and a new 355 x 32.2 mm main-pipe had to be laid for the water supply. The required pipeline route crossed a railway line in the contaminated soil. In order to guarantee the quality of the water, the client's in-house environmental department decided to use a diffusion-tight protective casing pipe GEROfit^® REX. The railway line was crossed by "culverting" so that disruptions to railway traffic and factory operations could be avoided.
