Upgrade of the extinguishing water distribution system at the naval base in Wilhelmshaven

In the "Heppenser Groden", the largest base of the German Navy, renewal and expansion work was carried out to ensure a comprehensive supply of fire-fighting water. The pipes were laid using alternative techniques, so that the pressure pipes made of stress-crack-resistant PE100-RC from the Gerodur fabrication, which are excellently suited for this purpose, were used. The pipeline route runs partly through challenging surroundings, so the planners decided to provide additional permeation protection for the pipeline. Due to the very good experience with the impermeable potable water pipe system GEROfit^® REX, pressure pipes made of PE100-RC with an additional diffusion barrier layer as well as an additive protective jacket made of a highly crack-resistant polyolefin compound were manufactured according to the planning specification. Both types of pipe also have project-specific colour coding and pipe marking.
