Marine installation using marine laying technology in the "Vesebanke" bodden
The expansion of renewable energies in the North Sea is moving forward. To ensure effective electricity distribution in the North Sea littoral states, the Cobra Cable 320 kV project was initiated between the Dutch grid operator TenneT and the Danish grid operator Energienet DK. Due to the high temperature load during operation of the high-voltage cables, it was decided to use EMDS protection tubes of the high-performance class LHT® from GERODUR. The pipes were welded on land to 600-metre lengths each and then pulled into the ground using special amphibious vehicles. The protective pipes were then weighted down with concrete weights and lowered to the seabed in a controlled manner.
