Relief and extension pipelines for potabel water and sewage

The population of the municipality of Hoppegarten on the outskirts of Berlin has grown strongly in recent years, so that the existing sewage system has reached its limits. In order to meet these new requirements, the Straußberg-Erkner water board has planned the construction of a wastewater relief pipeline. The crossing of a suburban and regional railway line required for this presented the planners and construction companies with great challenges. The trenchless installation of the media-carrying pipes in a protective pipe with a depth of 5 m under the railway embankment proved to be a time- and effort-saving and thus cost-effective variant. The installation of this empty pipe was done by pipe jacking. The available annular space of the protective pipe was dimensioned in such a way that, in addition to the sewage pipes, additional drinking water pipes as well as further pipes for other applications could be drawn in.
Pipes made of PE100 or PE100-RC from Gerodur, which have both excellent installation properties and a long service life (100 years), were used to draw in the pipe bundle profiled by spacers. Thus, the municipality of Hoppegarten is "well in the running" for further projects in residential and commercial construction.
