The Berlin sewage treatment plant Münchehofe treats the wastewater of 300,000 people from Berlin's eastern districts and the Strausberg-Erkner association. This process water treatment plant will be equipped with two new purification stages, whereby a new flocculation filtration system will achieve biological phosphorus removal of almost 97.75 %. The high-quality purified clear water is then returned to the natural water cycle via the River Erpe and the lake Müggelsee.
Various types of Gerodur PE100-RC pipes are used to transport the waste and process water produced. Pipes made of polyethylene have a very high resistance to many chemicals found in wastewater and is ideal for installation with high stress potential. Wastewater and industrial pressure pipes made of PE100-RC with and without a protective jacket are used in various installation methodes such as open trench without sand bedding and horizontal directional drilling. In some areas, the GEROfit^®R sewage pipes have an additional, light-coloured inner layer on a project-specific basis to enable efficient camera inspections for TV inspections at a later date.
