In order to be able to guarantee safe wastewater disposal around Lake Ossiacher See in the future, the wastewater pipes that were already built in the 1970s will be d or supplemented by a new sea-pressure- pipeline. This new pipeline is intended to prevent environmentally harmful wastewater leaks into the lake in the long term. The association covers a catchment area of six municipalities with about 34,000 inhabitants. In this process, the wastewater is collected around the lake in pumping stations and transported further to the wastewater treatment plant in Villach via these sea-pressure-pipes.
The pipes are welded and ballasted on several working platforms ("pontoons") on the river Tiebel and then floated parallel into the lake by the lateral flow and brought to the bottom of the lake in a controlled three-stage lowering process.
