A new extraction area is being developed for the waterworks in the Rhineland-Palatinate municipality of Eich. Most of the water pipes required were laid in open trenches, with individual sections laid using the HDD method. Working to a tight schedule, Mainzer Netze opted for the simple and time-saving GEROgrip push-in socket system. With factory-prefabricated straight lengths of 6 m with welded-on push-fit sockets made of PE100-RC, the work required on site could be significantly reduced. The 1.3 km stretch in the open trench was completed in a very short time and with minimal effort. A further 400 metres were laid by horizontal directional drilling with the GEROfit® R protective jacket pipe.
